Description

2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Coupe

For consignment, a 2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 with a title verified 27,582 actual miles.  Blistering fast wasn't fast enough for our consignor, he wanted scorching.  As a result, this car is replete with bolt on and bolt in modifications that raised the bar to a stated 795 wheel horsepower on the dyno.

Note:  Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public highways in your area

Exterior
Wider shoulders, a new face, and rounded sheet metal was introduced for the 2010 GT500, this one painted in Sterling Gray Metallic.  Flat black taped stripes traverse the car from the bottom lip of the gaping grille surround, over the top, and all the way down the rear fascia.  Above the dynamic line, the horizontal stripes and GT500 insignia so your neighbor revving his engine at the redlight can contemplate his options.  One large heat vent transects the aluminum hood, and the menacing mesh grille wears a standing snake, mouth agape, fangs drawn.  A rear wing lifts off the hood and works with the rear diffuser to expel the air the car passes through.  We need to talk about tires and wheels here as they veer from stock.  The front consists of 18-inch Forgestar D5 wheels with MT Sportsman SR 28x6.00R18LT tires with an early 2023 date code.  On the back, we find 15-inch Forgestar D5 wheels with bead locks and MT ET Street 275/60R15 tires with a late 2022 date code.  Overall, the exterior is in great shape with no noticeable flaws in the paint.

Interior
A sporty, but rather unassuming interior prevails here dominated by black.  Standard door panels are made of black molded plastic with perforated leather insert in a stitched pattern mirrored in the seat.  Our snake reappears on the black leather seat back and suede panels show up on the side bolster and lower seat sides, just for some extra grip around twisties.  The 2+2 rear seats seem cozy and untouched.  Suede and leather wrap the meaty steering wheel while SVT branded gauges sit in the driver's sight lines flanking an overlapping arrangement of smaller system status gauges.  Hard plastics surround the center stack where a screen over a panel of buttons that control the screen, AM/FM/CD radio, navigation, and climate control system reside.  An MGW shifter sits stoutly in the center console, big white ball knob beckoning the pilot and wrapped in an Alcantara boot.  The interior is blemish free.

Drivetrain
Here's where some changes have been made and some money has been spent.  The base of course is the legendary 5.4 liter DOHC supercharged and intercooled V8.  To that, the previous owner added or replaced components including a 2.9 liter Whipple supercharger, 3.25 blower pulley, JLT Big Air intake, Ford Racing Super Cobra Jet throttle body, Thump racing tensioner, West Industries overdrive lower pulley, Stage 1 methanol kit, L&M cams, low pressure bypass valve, 25# fuel injectors, Kenne Bell boost a pump, and an oil catch can.  The Tremec T56 6-speed manual transmission has a McLeod RXT clutch and transfers more than 200 extra horsepower back to the Ford 8.8 rear with 3.55 gears and TracLoc.  Power disc brakes have the big job of slowing this powerful car down.

Undercarriage
It's all very clean and dry underneath with only the rear axle displaying surface rust.  There are mods under here including at the exhaust which begins with Kooks long tube headers, a Kooks off road X-pipe, and a pair of MagnaFlow stainless steel mufflers that attach to the exhaust tips.  The catalytic converters have been removed.  Suspension has been addressed as the McPherson struts in front are accompanied by Steeda Sport front lowering springs while the rear houses a 3 link suspension with Steeda Hypercoil springs with adjustable ¾-2-inch drop, an adjustable panhard bar, and a sway bar relocation kit.

Drive-Ability
Turn the key and it's immediately evident that this is not your mild mannered GT, or even your ground pounding GT500.  It's something more and sounds every bit of it.  We're not breaking any tire loose around here, so we eeeeease it out the garage and give it slight throttle and never getting beyond fourth gear.  There's amazing grip, sensational acceleration, and adequate braking.  The beadlock rear wheels and auditory clues give this car's secret away, but the interior's lips are sealed, it gives away nothing.  Time to bring it back to the pits…er…garage.

If you just have to have more than 540 horsepower and want to hide it under the cover of a GT500, this car is right up your alley.  Stealthy to a point, we can only imagine what 0-60 runs are like in the car, and quarter miles likely fly by as well.  The build has been done for you and all you have to do is turn the key.  You don't have to be a herpetologist to love snakes, and this one has quite the bite!
