Garage Kept Motors is excited to offer this very clean 1971 Plymouth Satellite. This is a very solid car, that looks sharp and features a nice 383 V8. When this car was new some would describe this as an insurance beater. It looked a lot like of a Road Runner or even a GTX, but carried less risk as it was not a high powered muscle car. It was just a simple grocery getter and thus cost less to insure, and honestly cost quite a bit less to purchase new. The reality is these cars were great drivers and had some real performance potential if you wanted to tune on the big V8, maybe add some dual exhaust, and some aftermarket wheels and tires. This car is very affordably priced, looks sharp, and with air conditioning and big V8 will make a fun car to drive.
This car was repainted the factory True Metallic Blue (code GB5) and features a factory white vinyl top. The older re-paint is evenly applied with no mottling of the metallic paint and the finish shines with a nice luster but there are a few minor flaws in this hobbyist level applied paint job. The vinyl top may be original and is showing some dry rot on the edges. Bumper chrome presents as originals, showing signs of light patina and some dents. The driver's side has the original chrome remote control sport mirror. The addition of the Magnum 500 wheels, an option on late 60's Mopars, wrapped in raised white letter Cooper Cobra Radials adds a subtle sporty look to this clean Plymouth.
Inside the car is presents as original with white vinyl seats. There is some light wear and minor color fade to the seat upholstery and the original headliner is still present and looks nice but has some color fade as well. The door and side panels have been cosmetically restored and the carpet is new and well installed. This car features factory air conditioning and the factory AM radio is still present in the dash with the dash pad free of any cracks, vinyl splitting or related sun damage.
Under the hood is lightly detailed and presents well. The 383 V8 has been upgraded with an Edelbrock Performer 4bbl carburetor with electric choke. The engine has been dressed up with a set of Mopar Performance cast aluminum valve covers and a chrome Edelbrock open element air cleaner. Power is transferred through a TorqueFlite 727 Heavy Duty 3 speed automatic transmission. Underneath the unibody is unrestored and the floorboards and subframes have been lightly undercoated with no signs of any rust through. The factory power brakes with front discs and rear drums have been serviced with new brake calipers and rotors and the steering was treated to a new idler arm.
This is a great car as it sits and will be sure to draw lots of smiles and thumbs up wherever you cruise in it. There are plenty of inexpensive and small Saturday Morning projects on this car that could be easily tackled that would be both rewarding and help further bolster the value on this great driver. Please call if interested or e-mail with specific questions. Thank you for looking.
