Description

1977 PONTIAC Grand Prix LJ

Why This Car Is Special

The Grand Prix is a line of automobiles produced in its first generation by the Pontiac Division of General Motors from 1962 to 2002 for coupes and 1989–2008.

This 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix LJ we have here at Skyway Classics in a great color combination of black body paint, grey half-vinyl top, and grey interior.

This great example of the car neatly combined the same Pontiac 400 cubic inch V8 found in some Trans Am's, with the luxury features of a Buick, and wrapped it all in some of the best Pontiac styling of the decade.

Ours is numbers matching, stock, and original looking Grand Prix that is becoming harder and harder to find.

Mechanical

Ours has the powerful 400 cubic inch Pontiac V-8 Engine that came standard on the LJ backed by a three-speed Turbo Automatic Transmission. It looks all original with the 4-barrel carburetor and runs like a Trans Am.

The engine compartment looks factory stock with just routine maintenance done to it. It has a black air cleaner, Pontiac blue painted engine block, blue valve covers, blue painted intake, factory cast iron exhaust manifolds, air conditioning, power steering and brakes, and all other LJ running gear.

The dual exhaust system has that muted muscular tone that suits the Grand Prix just fine as it rides down the road on Rally II wheels and white sidewall performance tires.

Interior

Our Pontiac has a black Velour bucket seat interior with the matching rear seat, black carpet and floor mats, matching door panels, Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Power Windows, Power Door Locks, Air Conditioning, factory console housing the automatic shifter, Tilt Wheel, futuristic wood-grain Pontiac dash housing the factory Rally Gauges, pushbutton stereo radio system, and seatbelts.

Exterior

When new from the factory the 1977 Grand Prix's had a complete reworking of the front header and bumper with the parking lamps now positioned between the quad headlamps and the grille was narrower and extended into the lower portion of the bumper.

Ours is painted in black with the paint showcasing the handsome grey painted hood, a long nose/short deck profile, V-shaped grille, steeply sloping rear window, it all makes it look fast even sitting still.

It has T-Top roof panels, chrome bumpers and trim, the grey Landau half-vinyl roof, Rally II Wheels and white sidewall tires, and that Pontiac hood emblem.

Conclusion

This 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix LJ we have here at Skyway Classics is a very original car with a ton of originality and has classic looks and performance, and a killer combo of style, luxury, and performance to gain the attention anywhere you cruise to.
