1983 Chevrolet Camaro Berlinetta
The term Berlinetta (from Italian: berlinetta; Italian pronunciation: [berliˈnetta]) refers to a sports coupé, typically with two seats but also including 2 plus 2 cars. The original meaning for berlinetta in Italian is “little saloon”. Introduced in the 1930's, the term was popularized by Ferrari in the 1950's.
For consignment a Camaro which has been fashioned from various parts from various years, from various vehicles. It has a mostly original look, but if you look closely one can definitely tell there are custom differences making this car truly unique!
Exterior
Taking a 1986 Z28 nose and a 1992 lower front valance, adding '88 Z28 side skirts and rear bumper cover, and a 1992 spoiler with a center brake lamp, and we are only getting started. We note Z28 tail lamps, 1988 RS logos, a 1979 Z28 hood scoop cut to match the windshield, 1989 Pontiac GP hood louvers, '91 Lumina van headlights, 1986 Olds fog lamps, and a 1992 Z28 grille insert, and splash it with Dupont Emron Mariner Blue. Now that's custom! Lest I forget throw on American Racing 16 x 8 inch wheels with custom center caps, and wrap them with BF Goodrich comp T/A all-season 245/50R16's on all 4 corners.
Interior
Stock bucket seats (where did those come from!?) carpet and door panels, and armrests that have a Ford Escort dome lamp illuminating them, a newer headliner sun visors and speaker covers, and a 145 MPH speedometer. Next to the speedo is a 5500RPM tach, 80 PSI oil gauge an '83 center console and clock, power hatch release and power windows, power door locks, a tilt steering column, a custom steering wheel, and the unique continues inside. Front buckets are draped in blue cloth and gray carpeting covers the floors. All looking good and custom.
Drivetrain
A 1986 350ci V8 block with a lot of consigner stated add ons, 1990 truck Vortec heads, and an Edelbrock intake and Edelbrock Shorty headers. Tremec provides the tranny which is a TKO 600 5-speed with a new clutch, Lakewood bell housing and a handmade shifter. The rear axle employs 1988 disc brakes and is a 10-bolt 7.5 rear with 3.73 gears. All this is within a cast high strength rear cover.
Undercarriage
All very nicely done underneath with perfect floorpans and pristine rockers. We note lowering springs, KYB struts and stocks, a Trans Am front sway bar and a stock rear sway bar. An adjustable torque arm with drive shaft loop, power disc brakes all around, and a clean and mean Flowmaster exhaust that just gleams.
Drive-Ability
This amalgamation of various parts all comes together and produces a fun driver, nicely powered and definitely a unique look. It handles well and has a great engine sound. An overall comfortable driver.
If you are in the market for something completely different then look no further, as our builder/consigner loves to tinker, and work various years and various parts together to make a whole. Truly unique in its looks, and good performer, with many consigner stated upgrades throughout.
