2010 Nickey Chevrolet Camaro
The 2010 Nickey Camaro up for auction is a continuation and tribute to those who provided high performance upgrades to GM products during the muscle car era. In the mid 1960's Nickey Chevrolet was, along with Yenko, Dana, and Baldwin-Motion, took advantage of a loophole to build high performance Chevy's. General Motors at that time not only no longer officially supporting racing, they would not produce small or mid-sized automobiles with engines larger than 400 cubic inches. While this “official” position satisfied the government, safety groups and insurance companies, GM quietly used the Central Office Production Orders or COPO for short as a loophole. This Office was original meant for rental car or taxi companies to build fleets but high performance parts began appearing. In 1969 two new COPO catalogue numbers appeared – 9561 and 9560. 9561 was for a L72 and 9560 was the mythical LZ1.
The government, safety-environmental groups, insurance companies, and, finally, gas shortages once and for all killed the big engine muscle car. In 1977 Nickey Chevrolet called quits, but Nickey was not dead yet. In 2002 Stefano Bimbi purchased the “Nickey” trademark and became Nickey Performance. With the launch of the 2010 Camaro, Nickey Supercars returned.
Our 2010 Nickey Stage II Camaro comes with Nickey's custom appearance package. Its 6.2 LS3 motor is upgraded with Nickey CNC ported heads, Nickey Spec Cam kit, Performance intake and Hi-Flow fuel rails, and custom tuned exhaust making 600 hp. With barely 5,000 miles on the clock, this Camaro is great way to honor the past and celebrate the future.
